Over a year ago, I remember tuning in one of the many LSU football games where the Griddy was being one of the celebration dances done by Ja’marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. I always kept an eye out and eventually learned that the dance was created by Allen ‘Griddy’ Davis from Algiers in New Orleans. The dance was first done by Allen to one of Kenneth Brother’s tracks and KB eventually made the track ‘Griddy’ to help the dance move forward in the culture.
When Justin Jefferson hit the Griddy on the first touchdown against the Tennessee Titans, the track and dance have since then been widely featured in different TikToks, videos, NFL celebrations, and more. The Griddy has definitely become one of the biggest internet sensations this year and it’s only going to propel forward.
Around November of 2020, I remember making this tweet and since then me, KB, Ryan, and Treyylb. have been talking about the video for a long time. We planned to release this video before the Super Bowl, so we shot it the week prior. The video shoot itself was so much fun and it couldn’t have gone better than it did. Everyone was super cooperative, and the people who came out to help (Joey, Tyree, and Chad) were major assets to this video. I appreciate everyone for the love and commitment to make a great video this day, and I hope to do more like this.
Peace,
Adam
